Brick Floor Over Concrete. Expansion and control joints in a masonry or concrete substrate must be mirrored in the thin brick. If you were painting a floor all over for a smooth finish the prep work would be much more intense. It need not be soaked, but a thin layer of water helps the mortar cure properly.
You can repair cracks and resurface over them, but the cracks may return. Whereas solid or hollow bricks are commonly used on exteriors, interior brick floors generally consist of brick pavers or tiles: With brick pavers, you can lay them right on top of the concrete without having to take a jackhammer to it.
